Biographical Information for
Dr. Vivian Carter Dillihunt



Dr. Vivian Carter Dillihunt is a native Memphian who worked for thirty five years in the large urban school system where she was educated. During her career, her positions included teacher, counselor, instructional supervisor, principal and zone director. As zone director, she worked with principals of schools at all grade structures to improve student academic performance. Dr. Dillihunt now shares expertise gained as a successful principal of a high-performing school in an economically challenged environment with principals across the nation through coaching and seminars.

Dr. Dillihunt is the 2007 recipient of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) Marcus Foster Distinguished Educator Award. This award is bestowed upon individuals who have exercised exceptional leadership qualities and who, through their talents, have made systemic impacts in the field of education.

A graduate of University of Memphis, she is an avid basketball fan and golfer. She and her husband have three adult children and grandchildren.
